Inside NuStep: PressNUSTEP ANNOUNCES CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR 2009 PINNACLE AWARD NuStep, Inc., announced today it is seeking nominations for the 2009 Pinnacle Award, the national award that recognizes outstanding whole-person wellness programs in senior living communities and senior centers. Entries must be postmarked by June 27, 2008.
With research bearing out the value of whole-person wellness as it relates to improving the health and promoting the independence of the older adult population, senior living communities and senior centers across the country are moving to incorporate whole-person wellness practices into their environments. The whole-person wellness model is multi-dimensional in that it encompasses all aspects of one's life. The National Wellness Institute identified six dimensions of wellness - physical, social, emotional spiritual, intellectual and vocational - as a measurement of whole-person wellness.
NuStep was at the vanguard of this movement when they established the Pinnacle Award over 10 years ago. Using the six dimensions of wellness as the judging criteria, NuStep seeks organizations that best embrace and integrate the six dimensions of wellness into their programs, their environments or their services as a way to enrich and enhance the lives of their residents or members.
Beginning this year, the award winners will be selected in two senior categories: 1) Senior Housing – defined as any program that is part of an independent living, assisted living or skilled nursing community and 2) Senior Centers – defined as any program catering to an older adult (50 plus) population that is part of an active adult wellness program or senior center.
The winning organizations will receive: a NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer for their facility; the Pinnacle Award trophy – presented onsite by NuStep's vice president of sales and marketing; national recognition for the organization and their team; and exposure in national industry publications. In addition, a representative from the winning organizations will receive airfare and a two-night hotel stay for the 2008 American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) conference held October 13 – 15 in
