Press: NuStep and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Provide At-Home Rehab for a Hero
December 16, 2006
ANN ARBOR, MI - NuStep, Inc., maker of the TRS 4000 Recumbent Cross Trainer, is making a young woman’s at-home rehabilitation possible with the donation of a TRS 4000 to ABC’s hit television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Kristina Ripatti, a Los Angeles police officer shot in the line of duty this summer, is paralyzed from the chest down and confined to a wheelchair. She and her husband, Tim Pearce, and daughter, Jordan, lived in a small home that was not handicap accessible. The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team redesigned, and with scores of community volunteers, rebuilt the family’s home to accommodate Ripatti’s special needs. The NuStep TRS 4000 is included in the home’s new fitness and therapy room.
.
“Everyday, NuStep’s TRS 4000 is used by those with mobility challenges to regain strength and improve fitness,” said Steve Sarns, NuStep vice president, sales and marketing. “Everyday, the NuStep team makes a difference in the lives of people who are unable to easily use treadmills, exercise bikes or other forms of fitness equipment. It is an honor and privilege to help a hero like Kristina.”
The NuStep TRS 4000 offers features designed especially for those with limited mobility. Its swivel seat is ideal for those transitioning from a wheelchair to the TRS 4000 and its smooth variable step length and stepping motion provides low impact exercise.
The NuStep TRS 4000 also provides integrated upper and lower body motion to help those who are paralyzed achieve full benefit from their workout. In addition, all the major muscle groups are worked simultaneously enabling users to build strength and improve circulation and cardiovascular fitness.
A long-time favorite of physical therapists, doctors and others in the health profession, the NuStep TRS 4000 is the original recumbent cross trainer. For more information, visit www.nustep.com or call 800-322-2209.
