Press: NuStep Seeks Applicants for 2011 Pinnacle Award

March 22, 2010

ANN ARBOR, MI - NuStep, Inc. invites senior living communities and senior centers with whole-person wellness programs that promote and support successful aging to submit applications for the 2011 Pinnacle Award, the national award that salutes excellence in wellness programming for older adults. Entries must be postmarked by July 1, 2010.

From helping to maintain or improve physical function, to staving off depression and cognitive decline, to facilitating greater participation in life – whole-person wellness programs are proving to be a vital tool in helping older adults age successfully. Senior living communities and senior centers have taken note of these positive outcomes and many are moving to embrace the whole-person wellness model into their organizations.

Holistic and multi-dimensional, the whole-person wellness model encompasses all aspects of one’s life and comprises six interconnected dimensions of wellness: emotional, social, intellectual, physical, spiritual and vocational.

Using the six dimensions of wellness as judging criteria, NuStep’s Pinnacle Award recognizes senior living communities and senior centers that have cultivated and integrated a culture of whole-person wellness throughout their organizations to  improve the quality of life not only of their residents or members, but employees and staff as well.

Winners are selected in two categories: 1) Senior Centers – defined as any wellness program catering to an older adult (50 plus) population that is part of an active adult wellness program or senior center, and 2) Senior Living Community – defined as any wellness program that is part of an individual independent living, assisted living or skilled nursing community (i.e., a specific community/location).

The winning organizations will receive: a NuStep T5XR Recumbent Cross Trainer for their facility; the Pinnacle Award trophy – presented onsite by NuStep’s vice president of sales and marketing; national recognition for the organization and their team; and exposure in national industry publications. In addition, a representative from the winning organization will receive airfare and a two-night hotel stay for the 2010 American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) conference held Nov. 1 – 3 in Los Angeles, CA.

2010 Pinnacle Award recipients include Seniors in Motion, located in Denton, TX for top Wellness/Fitness Center and Sunnyside Retirement, located in Harrisonburg, VA for top Senior Housing Wellness Center.
