Featured Product: The WellGrip

NuStep introduces the WellGrip for physical therapists and their clients.

The WellGripNuStep has developed a product, to accompany the NuStep® TRS 4000 Recumbent Cross Trainer, that is a breakthrough in hand gripping technology for physical therapists and their clients.

“The WellGrip™” is a handle-gripping accessory specifically designed to make physical therapists’ jobs easier and patients’ workouts comfortable and safe.

“After talking with many physical therapists and discussing the limitations that some patients have holding their hands on the handlebars, NuStep saw the need for a hand grip to assist with patients’ rehabilitation,” said Mark Hildebrandt, vice president of research and development.

Physical therapists found that patients with special-needs, specifically those affected by a stroke, head-injury and limited strength, have limitations when it comes to grasping the handle of the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer.  Their hand slips, or their wrists flex and they cannot firmly hold the handle, leading to a less effective upper-body workout and greater discomfort.

“NuStep worked with physical therapists to develop “The WellGrip” to make the job of physical therapists easier and their patients more comfortable,” said Hildebrandt.

“The WellGrip” is made from a three-dimensional spacer fabric that’s specifically designed for orthopedic and sports-medicine applications where comfort is critical.  The built-in cushion minimizes pressure points against the hand and the breathable material transports moisture away from the skin.

Special-needs patients can now get the benefit of a NuStep total-body workout.  Physical therapists can say goodbye to the struggles of keeping their patients’ hand attached to the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer.
