According to the Alzheimer’s Association more than 5 million Americans currently battle Alzheimer’s disease (2015).
Cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias can cause health issues including an increased risk of falls or delayed recovery from a health crisis, ultimately driving health care costs up and increasing hospitalizations.
Studies have shown that aerobic exercise benefits cognitive performance, brain function and brain structure, especially as it relates to older adults. But many times, those suffering from cognitive impairment have additional physical barriers that make exercise with traditional fitness equipment difficult.
