Are you happy enough to get healthy?

This week I want to share my thoughts on the importance of the mental, as well as the physical, when you want to lose weight and get healthy. For most people, there’s a why behind being overweight or obese that has to be tackled before they can make any lasting change.

Obesity affects your family, friends, work, and your entire quality of life. A severely obese person will tell you they are ok, getting by. They will say they are doing just fine, but I bet they are not as happy as they could or should be. How do I know this? That was me. Those were my exact words. I truly didn’t know how unhealthy and unhappy I was until I got healthy! Now I look back and see how preventable it was, but other things going on in my life were holding me back. I was lying to myself and the worst part is, I believed the lie.

When I started my Biggest Loser journey, I soon figured out that I had to understand why I had let myself get to this point before I was going to be able to change for the long run. I honestly had to let go before I could gain my health back and be truly happy. I stopped using my life situations to rationalize my weight gain and started to take action.

Your health is the most important investment you can make and you can’t take care of others around you if you can’t take care of yourself first. Health and happiness truly go hand in hand. Your quality of life depends on both of them. I urge you not to accept “getting by” anymore.

Look inside and ask yourself – “What is really going on in my life that I got to this unhealthy place?” If you can find the answer to that question and make changes to fix it, you can start changing the physical too. That’s it in a nutshell.

Please take the necessary steps to find your eternal happiness and overall health!

Stay healthy my friends.
