Staying Positive Throughout Your Weight Loss Journey.

There are few guarantees in life, but it is almost guaranteed that at one point or another, those of us on a weight loss journey will have a setback. The source of our setback could be external and out of our control.

An example of this would be dealing with an illness, an injury or a life changing event. All of these can cause a setback. Our setback could be due to internal issues. Maybe we’ve lost our motivation, we’re bored or we’re stressed.

Whatever the cause, setbacks can cause a lot of negative feelings that we direct towards ourselves. I’m all too familiar with those feelings of frustration, futility and failure. I’m also familiar with that sense of negativity that sets in.

Limit Time Focusing On Negative Feelings.

In time, I came to realize that if I swam in the pool of negative feelings too long, I was actually extending my setback. Understanding this, I decided from that point on, I would limit the amount of time I focused on those negative feelings.

Now, I believe we need time to let ourselves feel our feelings and even do a bit of soul searching. I also believe we need to get ourselves to the point where we say, “OK, time’s up – the pity party is over.” We need to change our focus and get to the job of bouncing back.

There are a lot of expressions about not giving up. And sometimes I think, “easier said than done.” But there is truth to them. We can’t let a stumble in the road be the end of our journey. The sooner we decide to bounce back, the easier it will be to overcome a setback.

Push Through And Come Out Stronger.

We should never forget that the source of our strength is often a result of the struggles we’ve faced. When you encounter Let Downs, Failures, and Disappointments it may feel like the end of the world. But, that’s when you need remind yourself of the times you’ve faced other struggles. How you pushed through them and came out stronger.

We all face the risk of letting life’s Let Downs, Failures and Disappointments define us. The challenge is to let them inspire us, because that’s where we’ll find the strength to bounce back.

Although I’ve had my share of setbacks, I consider myself lucky because I’ve learned from every single one of them.

This Week O’Nealism.
“The Let Downs, Failures, and Disappointments in life will hurt you and hold you back, as long as you let them. Be an INSPIRATION to yourself and OTHERS.”
