Find Your Why.

It’s the perfect time of year for goal setting! Let’s break down how to set achievable goals using your NuStep cross trainer.

Before setting any goals, ask yourself “Why am I exercising on the NuStep?” Why is it important?” For example, your why could be the desire to be more active and engaged in life. It could be to manage a health condition. It could be to lose weight. Understanding your why will help you set goals like exercising longer and more often. Your why will help you stay motivated and achieve those goals.

Tracking your workouts is a great way to make sure you stay on goal. NuStep recumbent cross trainers track your steps, distance, calories, and resistance. Additionally, NuStep offers a heartrate sensor and strap that is compatible with all NuStep cross trainers. There are many ways to track your goals using your NuStep. To get you started, we’ve outlined two easy ways to track your NuStep workouts below.

Track Your Steps.

Set one of your goals to be step-focused! But how many steps does it take to boost your fitness level? An article written by Healthline noted a 2011 study which found that “healthy adults can take anywhere between approximately 4,000 and 18,000 steps/day and that 10,000 steps/day is a reasonable target for healthy adults.” For a more detailed breakdown to determine your goal, see below.

  • Inactive: less than 5,000 steps per day
  • Average (somewhat active): ranges from 7,500 to 9,999 steps per day
  • Very active: more than 12,500 steps per day

Track Your Distance.

How far do you want to NuStep daily? Set an attainable goal and work your way up to it. For example, your goal could be to NuStep three miles a day. Start slow and first aim to hit a half- mile. After several half-mile NuStep sessions, try for a mile, next, one-and-a-half miles, and so on until you reach your three-mile goal. As the author Louis Sachar once said, “It is better to take many small steps in the right direction than to make a great leap forward only to stumble backward.”

Now that you have determined your workout goals, let’s get to NuSteppin’! As mentioned above, the NuStep console shows the number of steps or miles you have taken. And the NuStep app tracks your workouts for you so that you have all your data in one place, making it easy to see how your goals have progressed.
